Annual General Meeting 2007
The 2007 Annual General Meeting of the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) was held Tuesday, September 25 and Wednesday, September 26 at the Delta Chelsea Hotel, 33 Gerrard Street West, Toronto, Ontario.
Thanks to all our colleagues who attended the CRKN Annual General Meeting. Participation rates were higher than ever before, with 94 delegates from 48 member institutions, as well as delegates from regional consortia and from CRKN’s Board of Directors and Advisory Board. We appreciate the travel many of you undertook to be present.
We value your feedback to assist us in organizing and improving future meetings. Thanks to all those who participated in our online survey.
Summary of Findings:
- Response rates were slightly higher than those experienced in previous years (35% response rate, with a couple of respondents not completing the entire survey instrument);
- Overall, participants expressed approval of the AGM, with 30% assessing it as Excellent, and more than half (53%) calling it Very Good;
- Similar acceptance as above holds true for the assessment of the speaker program, with more than eight in ten rating it at least Very Good;
- The business meeting is clearly of lesser priority than the conference plenary, with only 57 percent rating this aspect of the program as being at least Very Good;
- Most notably approximately one in three felt that this AGM was much better than those held in previous years, with fully one half of participants saying it was at least a little better than previous sessions;
- The AGM seems to have found an appropriate balance of speaker programs, CRKN business and social events (87% agree). And the events are considered to be relevant to members’ professional interests (97% agree).
