Canadian Research Knowledge Network Concludes Agreements for $140 Million in Digital Research Content

Ottawa, January 14, 2010 - The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) is pleased to announce the conclusion of three-year license renewals with 14 scholarly publishers, valued at approximately $140 million (CAD). Backgrounder - CRKN License Renewals 2010-2012

The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) has completed negotiations with 14 scholarly publishers for three-year license renewals, valued at approximately $140 million (CAD), on behalf of CRKN’s 73 university members. These agreements represent two groups of renewals: (1) licenses that were originally implemented in 2007 as a major content expansion in humanities and social sciences content, and (2) licenses that were first implemented in 2001 during CRKN’s pilot phase, and are now into an expanded fourth cycle of license renewals. David Barnard appointed Chair of the Board of Directors of the

Ottawa, October 6, 2009 – The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. David Barnard as Chair of its Board of Directors for a three-year term commencing October 9, 2009.

 

Online access to international scholarly content set to boost Canada's research capacity in social sciences and humanities

Ottawa, February 8, 2007 – The Canada Foundation for Innovation today announced a $19.1 million investment to support the development of a new infrastructure for social sciences and humanities research.  The funds were awarded to the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) — a consortium of Canadian universities that provides its members with desktop access to a wide range of research content through licensing and purchase agreements with Canadian and international publishers.  The University of Ottawa will be the host institution for this new national infrastructure.
