CRKN Wins International Communications Award

CRKN has been announced as a winner of the prestigious 2010 Gold Quill Award for Excellence in business communication, presented by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).  CRKN captured an Award of Excellence in the Special Events category for its Virtual AGM project.

“This award is a testament of the best practice approach supported by CRKN. We pushed the envelope a little with our requirement for an authenticated voting system, but we delivered on the vision which aligned so nicely with our electronically-oriented mandate,” says Dyna Vink, Director of Communications at CRKN, who led the effort.

This year’s competition received nearly 900 entries from 28 countries. Of these, 106 were selected to receive awards—32 Awards of Excellence, 71 Awards of Merit and three Student Awards. The winners will be honored at the Gold Quill Awards gala dinner on June 7th at the IABC 2010 World Conference in Toronto.

Michael Ridley named 2010 Miles Blackwell Outstanding Academic Librarian

Nominators described Mr. Ridley as a “tireless builder – of ideas, of collaboration, of commitment, and most importantly, of bridges between diverse communities.”  He is “constantly challenging the status quo and pushing the boundaries,” encouraging individual librarians and the profession to “expand our vision, embrace change, and create new value through partnerships.”  He is “extremely articulate”, “combines intuitive insight with creative outlook,” and is “the consummate teacher – willing to share, willing to explain.”  In the poetic words of one supporter, “he is a man for this season and for all seasons.”
