The Canadian Research Knowledge Network was incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation on April 1, 2004. The corporation builds upon successful initiatives begun under the Canadian National Site Licensing Project (CNSLP), a pilot project launched in 2000 with seed funding totaling $50 million from the Canada Foundation for Innovation, provincial and regional government sources, and 64 universities.
CRKN's inaugural annual general meeting was held April 22-23, 2004 in Toronto, and provided members and prospective members an opportunity to celebrate accomplishments, explore issues, participate in decision-making, and provide direction to the new Board of Directors.
National collaboration is reflected in the composition of the Board of Directors that includes designates of regional and national organizations as well as representatives elected by the membership at large.
For further information regarding the transaction of the business and affairs of the Canadian Research Knowledge Network, please see CRKN's by-laws.
