The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) is a partnership of Canadian universities, dedicated to expanding digital content for the academic research enterprise in Canada. Through the coordinated leadership of librarians, researchers, and administrators, CRKN undertakes large-scale content acquisition and licensing initiatives in order to build knowledge infrastructure and research capacity in Canada's universities.
CRKN is governed by a national Board of Directors, and administers an annual budget of over $90 million. CRKN is currently undertaking a major content expansion in the social sciences and humanities, and was recently awarded federal grant funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) to accelerate this initiative. This project will build new capacity for research in the social sciences and humanities, and enhance multi- and inter- disciplinary research in Canada.
